Anyone who chooses a cruise holiday for their next getaway will be overwhelmed by the choice of destinations available. Considering that over two thirds of the earth is covered by water this is not a surprise. But there is something that will appeal to people of all persuasions, when they take a look at the cruises on offer.
Mediterranean – West
Europe, including Rome, Florence and Barcelona can be seen affordable way, with the Western Mediterranean to enjoy some of the most famous places in Europe. Typically, holidaymakers will travel to top destinations such as France, Italy and Spain – including the Spanish islands. Depending on the specific cruise line’s itinerary, they might also stop in Portugal, Malta, Monte Carlo and Croatia. Cruises around the Western Med can be booked at any time of year, but during the winter months you may find that the cruise ships will substitute the cooler locations, such as France and Italy, with warmer choices, such as the Canaries or perhaps Morocco.
Mediterranean – East
To fully experience the delights and mysteries of destinations such as Greece, Turkey and Black Sea stops such as Croatia, an Eastern Med cruise is the answer. There is plenty beach action and fun to be had on one of these trips, but also the opportunity to immerse yourself in history and culture. From spring to autumn, most Eastern Mediterranean cruises sail, with the busiest time of the year in summer high season demanding more cruises.
Baltic Region and Northern Europe
From jaw-dropping scenery, to cultures and activities, there is a lot to be seen in this part of the world on the cruises. There are many places to be seen in the Baltic region, covering a spectrum of cities, including Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, St. Petersburg and Tallinn. Bergen, Stavanger, Alesund, Flam and Tromso are the popular stops for those travelling to the Norwegian fjords. And for a chilly but inspiring trip, you can head even further north with the cruises available around the artic and Greenland. There are also many discount cruises available to this and other regions, for travellers who want to travel for less.
Transatlantic
Cruises from the Mediterranean or the UK to Florida or New York, are popular routes across the ocean. There are often no stops and the journey takes only one to two weeks, so it’s perfect for those who just want to relax. There is so much on board, including cinemas and planetariums, to spas, gyms and of course plenty of shops, bars and clubs, because more time spent on the ship itself, the activities available on a transatlantic cruise ship are extensive.
