A beautiful day out and unmissable if you are visiting the Forest is a trip to Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and the Ornamental Drive. A day can easily slip by in this beautiful woodland area with plenty to do for any member of the family.

In case you didn’t know the New Forest National park was once the hunting grounds of the former kings of England, and some of the ancient traditions are still practiced today by the commoners.

The car park at Bolderwood gets really busy, so on a really lovely sunny day, plan your trip early to avoid disappointment. Adjacent to the car park and the woodland there is an open green which is great for having your picnic and a family/friendly game of rounders. You can get a delicious forest ice cream from the resident ice cream van here.

In the woody area at the entrance to Bolderwood you will find picnic tables, portable barbeque facilities and toilets. Here you will also find an information centre, often manned by a friendly forest ranger who can help with questions about the forest. Children and adults can have some fun seeing how many questions they can answer from the quiz!

Once you have entered into the Woodland area at Bolderwood there is a choice of variable well marked walks you can choose from. The shortest is about half a mile long and this walk will take you past the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary. There is a viewing platform here where you can look out across the forest to see how many deer you can spot. The forest feed some deer from here, so if you get the time just right, you can often see a many a deer feeding and grazing.

If you decide to take the Jubilee Walk, this is a about half a mile and will take you through the Bolderwood Arboretum. This is a fabulous display of a range of trees which began as far back as the 1800’s. Unfortunately, because of the high winds we had here in 1987 and further more in 1991, many of the great trees were destroyed. A project of ongoing planting has since been put in place to return this area to its original beauty.

The Radnor Trail is another walk which will take you through this ancient beautiful forest, during this walk you might spot the odd Deer grazing in the distance hiding amongst the many more variety of tree species. There are many suitably placed benches to take a rest for a while and to admire the beauty of the forest surrounding you.

Cycling is a great past time throughout the whole of the forest. Bolderwood is no exception to this and it does in fact form part of the 100 mile New Forest Cycling network. The Bolderwood cycling trail is approximately 7 miles long and can take about 3 and a half hours.

During your visit to Bolderwood you must take the time to drive through Bolderwoods Ornamental Drive. This is at its most beautiful during the summer and its windy narrow road takes you through the tremendous ancient woodland. It forms part of the 100 mile New Forest Cycling network so there are many cyclists along this route and because of its beauty the drive does become quite busy, so please be careful.

If you are looking for friendly local accommodation visit New Forest cottages for local self catering holiday cottages or New Forest hotels for luxury and hotel accommodation.

Ashford in the water is the perfect spot for a fantastic holiday. Located just north of Bakewell on the River Wye, it is a very unique Derbyshire and Peak District village with some age old traditions, as well as some new ones.

Peak District tourism attracts millions of visitors to the area each year and Ashford should definitely be on your Peak District Accommodation shortlist.

If you like to explore visit The Holy Trinity Church like many others in the region is centuries old. Some parts of the church go back to the 13th century but much of it was rebuilt in the 1800’s as it had become so old. Fortunately some of the original architecture has withstood the test of time.

From the 14th century, the lower section of the west tower, and the south door still has the original Norman tympanum depicting the tree of life, and in the center is a hog and wolf facing each other.

The church also has a number of artefacts that date from the 1600’s which include a chalice, a Jacobean pulpit, as well as a Perp style font.

In the 1700’s, a custom of hanging funeral garland made of paper that was attached to a wooden frame and carried in front of the procession and hung on the church roof, is still alive and well today. There are four of these garland pieces still hanging.

Ashford was once known as a village that made candles but that industry has long been obsolete and today, a house stands in place of the old factory that once stood, which is located on Greaves Lane.

One of the most picturesque things you will find here is the Sheep Wash Bride. Historically this was used as a packhorse bridge, and later on it became popular with sheep herders who were able to wash their flocks here before shearing.

Ashford is known for the black marble it produces, and once it is polished serves as inlaid patterns for mosaics, clocks, table tops, and jewelry. Ashford Church displays such a table top of this type. This black inlaid marble has become poplar in the United States.

One of the most fascinating things in Ashford dealing with the culture of the village of the well dressing that happens on Trinity Sunday. On this day, six wells are dressed, which means they are layered with leaves and other natural objects that can be found nearby. The objects are then placed on a bed of clay to create a picture.

There is also Ashford Hall, which overlooks a beautiful lake that is part of the River Wye. Ashford Hall was built in 1785 by Joseph Pickford of derby, and belongs to the Olivier family.

Just a short distance down the road from Ashford is a Georgian T shaped house known as Thornbridge Hall, it was privately owned until the middle of the 20th century where it changed hands and became a teacher’s training college, then after a period of time then it became an educational center, it is now once again privately owned and used as and antique shop.

If your not staying at holiday at one of the holiday cottages in Ashford definitely make sure it is on your list of places to visit especially if you are taking a holiday during Well Dressing week.

All the details of the honeymoon require one’s attention just as the wedding party does. Have a look over the following words of advice for romantic honeymoon getaways regardless of whether you travel by plane, boat, train or car.

Make reservations in advance and book tickets at romantic hotel getaways in case you make halts on the way to the destination. Thanks to good planning you’ll benefit from great price discounts; airlines are known to first sell all classes of seats at the best prices, but as you get closer to the departure date, only the business class seats are still available.

Honeymooners also benefit from lots of travel packages, with various options included. Hence, tell the agency that you are looking for honeymoon travel opportunities, and you may strike a better deal. Sometimes people choose the all inclusive variant and leave it to the agency to deal with everything from then flight details to the hotel reservations, but other couples prefer to get involved actively in the planning.

Smart packing is another tip for successful romantic getaways which some people fail to follow, particularly when going to sunny areas. Of course this is not about taking sweaters and jackets when going to Hawaii, but rather about having some extra apparel items available for more special occasions, as you may feel the need to wear something other than slippers and t-shirts. Don’t forget to take some water, a few snacks and the essentials necessary for the trip. By essentials we imply the passports, the credit cards, a list of useful phone numbers and so on.

There are some very personal items that make honeymoon travel all the more rewarding . Thus, you can pack a CD with very meaningful love songs, eventually music from the wedding reception or some special rhythms to enjoy in a romantic setting. Then, don’t forget that this is a great time to pamper yourself with all sorts of special treats, so don’t be shy to ask for what you want at the hotel.

experience the authenticity of every location to really make the best of your honeymoon travel: try new food, new music, get familiar with local cultures, communicate with the local inhabitants, see relevant local sites and points of attractions. Keep bad moods away even if trifles may threaten to ruin the atmosphere.

Travel Lodging

Booking travel tickets and hotel rooms remains the first thing on the to-do-list when planning a trip. If you haven’t made arrangements in advance, the search for a good travel lodge before the vacation period is exhausting. Tourism agents always have all sorts of packages for memorable vacations, but you need to do your homework too and decide what your expectations are before seeing what you are offered. Here are a few tips you may need when in search of a quiet inexpensive travel lodge, and and ask yourself these questions for a good start.

Do you want to go on holiday on or off the peak season? Have you got an exact date you need to stick to? How much can you afford to spend on a travel lodge? How many people are going on the trip with you? Plenty of hostels, hotels, apartments and condos are suitable as travel lodge accommodation with different levels of comfort, starting with regular amenities and ending with luxury apartments. From travel lodge to travel lodge you’ll see that the rates differ, not to mention that discounts can only be negotiated when you pay far in advance for accommodation. Thus, if you are so sure of the next-holiday plans, you can book rooms even a year in advance, since the hotel policy allows such flexible forms of reservation.

Internet portals facilitate the finding of a travel lodge immensely, as many of them deal exclusively with travel-related menu options. But for such technologies we have access to at present, it could be impossible to rent a cozy not so expensive travel lodge quickly. So far we have referred only to holiday makers who require|look for convenient accommodation, but there are very many people who have jobs that involve a lot of traveling, and they too can benefit from the use of travel-related web sites. Some companies make their deals through rental contracts for a travel lodge in order to offer the commuting employees the chance to work in convenient conditions.

The reservation for such a travel lodge completes only after a negotiation of the contract, particularly if the company pays on a constant basis to have the lodge available all the time. Individual users in search of a travel lodge, who do not have the back covered by  a corporation, should carefully look over several rates before making up their mind, and fortunately web sites do allow comprehensive checking. As for the market trends, it is good to point out that there has been a modification in the travelers’ preferences for houses like cottages, when traveling to Europe and Great Britain in particular.

If you dream of retiring in a private little paradise – a quiet community with no crime, where you can have your cottage by the bay, where you know everybody in town and people still wave as you pass each other in your pickup, well Hawaii is the best place for you.

In Hawaii, even if you’re broke, you can live off of fresh fish, coconuts and pineapples and you can sleep on the beach and bath in the 79 degree crystal clear ocean.  Hawaii has top-notch health care, loads of culture and lots of green space, truly one of the best places in the world to retire. The State of Hawaii is a state in the United States, located on an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean southwest of the continental United States, southeast of Japan, and northeast of Australia. The state was admitted to the Union on August 21, 1959, making it the 50th state. Its capital is Honolulu on the island of Oahu.  It was from this point out that Hawaii become one of the best places to live in one of the best countries in the world – the USA.

Only Hawaii and Alaska are outside the contiguous United States and do not share a border with any other U.S. state. This state encompasses nearly the entire volcanic Hawaiin Island Chain, which is made up of hundreds of islands spread over 1,500 miles (2,400 km).  The climate of Hawaii is typical for a tropical area, although temperatures and humidity tend to be a bit less extreme than other tropical locales due to the constant trade winds blowing from the east. That’s perfect for a human beings and a host of animals and plants that we humans enjoy.

There are beaches from white to black. Some are miles long, others hide in tiny coves. Long, white waterfalls tumble down precipitous cliffs and slip quietly into the sea. The place is an exotic, tropical paradis due to the beautiful beaches and the very friendly and hospitable people that live in Hawaii. And it’s a nice fact to know that people live longer in Hawaii than in any other state in the US. This makes it one of the retirement best places.

It’s rare for a visitor to have a bad experience involving crime on the Big Island and like the rest of the country, call 911 in an emergency. If someone happens to have a bad or negative experience, the Visitor Aloha Society Hawaii does their best to see what they can do to remedy it and make you enjoy your stay.

If you love to hike, you will love Hawaii – it’s an island chain filled with mountains. Hikers should carry plenty of water, sun protection and a cell phone. The best advice is to hike with a partner and let others know where you are going and when you should return.  Many visitors are drawn to the natural beauty found at higher elevations on Hawaii Island, such as on Kilauea, Mauna Loa or Mauna Kea volcanoes

Hawaii is also rich in culture and traditions. The hula is a beautiful flowing Hawaiian dance that tells a story. The music is comprised of repetitive chants, called mele, either alone or combined with music. The hula began in ancient Hawaii as a form of worship. The musical instruments were often made of gourds, coconuts, or logs covered with shark-skin membrane – and of course, the ukelele. The hand and leg movement combined with facial expressions and the dance itself tell the story of the hula. The hula survives today through study, competitions, shows, and the dances for the visitors enjoyment.

If you’ve ever heard the phrase luau, you probably know it from Hawaiian culture, and for good reason. It is normally a large party where the main course is Kalua pig – a whole pig steamed in an imu (underground oven). You will also find pupus (hawaiian appetizers), laulaus (meat, normally pork, cooked inside ti leaves), limu (seaweed), lomi-lomi salmon (salmon cooked with tomato and onion), and haupia (coconut and pineapple pudding).

It is also popular for Lei-giving. Leis have many meanings and uses; the maile lei is the traditional offering to Laka, goddess of the dance, which is one of the reasons the hula dancers are so adorned with them. Leis are given to people arriving and leaving Hawaii meaning love, or friendship.

A notable (and much-discussed) aspect of Hawaiian government and economy is its health care system, which insures over 95% of residents. Under the state’s plan, all businesses are required to provide employees who work more than twenty hours per week with health care. Heavy regulation of insurance companies helps keep the cost to employers down. If you want health insurance, Hawaii is one of the best retirement locations for it.

Due to the emphasis on preventive care, the people of Hawaii spend less on healthcare than most other states. Given these achievements, proponents of universal health care elsewhere in the U.S. have sometimes used Hawaii as a model for proposed federal and state health care plans.
